Backtracking....

Up at 06:00 - RvH's house at 06:50 - Vredenburg at 07:10
M had to get up early too to work the early shift at the Hospital.

Arrived at Vredenburg and saw that the first traders were already waiting to get in and set up. Dealt with traders together with RvH.
Pretty soon the rest of the BU staff arrived and we could get things rolling.
My task was MC for the day. A new one for me and of course sad that due to the death of MvD this task now fell to me.

Didn't have time to look around the traders stalls myself. Good mood all the way through (in spite of problems between RvH and GK).
The Golden Apple Award was a huge success, even if the prize fell apart after it had been handed to the winning band (Mal Evens Memorial Band).
Audience loved it, although I had serious reservations about the presenter who looked at the female drummer of the winning band with his tongue on his shoes and made several sexist remarks to boot.

Music for the day was provided by the Blue Meanies (OK) and Two Of Us (excellent).
Two of Us played for hours in the foyer before their turn on the big stage came along. Wonderful stuff.
L + C + MH came buy to see me during the event.
Great to see them there.

Breakdown of stalls etc. after 17:45 and made it to the communal dinner in the chinese restaurant at 19:30 - completely shattered.
After dinner, drove RvH home and collapsed in my chair for the rest of the evening.

Woke up early but then we'd also lost an hour because of summertime. Had coffee with M before starting to prepare family brunch. My mother arrived at 11:30 and C + MH came at 12:00.
Good brunch. By 16:00 everyone was gone and I wrote a press release about the Golden Apple Award.

A light dinner and then saw the film 'Amelie' on DVD. Enjoyed it.
Still very tired as a result of the convention.
